Houston waited a very long time at Forgotten Cats for his forever home. He had been at West Chester Pet Supplies Plus for many long months. Because he is FIV-positive and a fully grown adult kitty, he had a harder time getting the attention he needed. One volunteer at West Chester really took a shine to him. She’s a great photographer too – she’s the one who captured him in a cowboy hat, Halloween necktie, and playing in the tunnel toy, which was a photo featured in Delaware Today magazine.
In October she started fostering him. By December, she decided she just could not imagine giving him up.
“He’s doing great, and loving life! Houston is FIV+ and mingles freely with my four non-FIV+ females, and everyone gets along just fine. He mostly hangs out with my tuxedo girl Sophie. She’s the dominant cat in the household & likes to keep close tabs on him to make sure he stays in line.
Houston loves being brushed, and his favorite toy is homemade, from braided shoestrings. He likes to be near me all the time when I’m home, which is so sweet. When I crawl into bed at night he comes and nestles his big head on my shoulder. I love him so much!
His skin issues are resolving, and his coat has grown back in nice and soft. His short grey fur reminds me of grey flannel, so I got him his own bottle of Grey Flannel cologne! Every now and then I put a little drop behind his ears and it makes him smell so good when I kiss him.
He is very happy here and my four females all accepted him with no issues. So now he’s mine, all mine! I’m a lucky girl with the best kitty crew ever.”
